The hottest color this season is "green," and as environmentally sustainable practices become the standard in business, it looks like the fashionable color is here to stay. The MCCVB wants to know about its members' green initiatives in order to promote them to meeting planners, visitors and media. The MCCVB staff is establishing its own internal green practices, as well, including resource conservation, office product sourcing, and expanding the current recycling program. In October 2008 the MCCVB became members of Sustainable Travel International (STI). Founded in 2002, STI is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing education and outreach services that helps travelers, travel providers and related organizations support environmental conservation and protect cultural heritage while promoting cross-cultural understanding and economic development. STI is one of the resources the CVB will use in supporting members with information. Please stay tuned for updates on the development of the MCCVB's Ecotourism Program.
