La Playa Hotel has 73 lovely rooms, two spacious suites and five storybook cottages. The Mediterranean-style property grew from an artist's mansion completed in 1904. It is located in the heart of enchanting Carmel village, two blocks from sparkling Carmel beach and four blocks from the town's world-famous art galleries, boutiques and restaurants.
Rooms have views of ocean, garden, patio or residential Carmel. The two suites have spacious living quarters and panoramic views. Five guest cottages, ranging in size from one bedroom up to three bedrooms, are located a short distance from the main building. Each cottage is unique in character and all have an easy country charm.
La Playa Hotel has five function rooms, four with windows or French doors overlooking extensive gardens. Conference and banquet facilities can accommodate 10 to 110 guests. The garden courtyard and pool area are ideal for lunches and cocktail receptions. A complete line of audio-visual equipment is available through the hotel by private contract.
Breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday Brunch are served in the Terrace Grill Restaurant. The wood paneled Terrace Grill Lounge offers cocktails, an extensive wine list and a collection of old ports and sherries.
La Playa is owned by Nob Hill Properties, Inc., San Francisco, a family company that also owns and operates the Huntington Hotel and Big Four Restaurant on Nob Hill in San Francisco. In addition, La Playa is a member of Historic Hotels of America.
