After the winter rains begin, the spores of the exotic wild mushrooms sprout new life on the damp forest floor. Our naturalist has made mushrooms his favorite pastime. With his careful guidance, we will forage the undergrowth for the rare as well as the common specimen. We will learn how to identify the edible varieties steering clear of those, which produce undesirable effects. Once the gathering is complete, we will join the chef to learn the care, handling and preparation of the exotic fungus. Our lunch will includemushrooms! Savory aromas, subtle, delectable flavors and delicate textures combine to create a memorable and entertaining day.

Many visitors to the Monterey Bay area are aware that California's Central Coast is well known for its billion-dollar row-crop industry. But what many visitors don't know is that 15% of this total is a product of the fresh-cut flower industry. Your group will delight in the opportunity to tour the facility of one of the most prominent growers and shippers of greenhouse roses and fresh-cut flowers in the United States. Observe this precious commodity being harvested, stored, packed and shipped. After this informative tour, your group will enjoy an impromptu lesson in flower arranging or flower stemming for corsage making, and will take home their self-designed bouquets or corsages as a lovely, if fleeting, souvenir of the day. Please note, our tour covers greenhouses, flowering fields, the packinghouse and cooler. Walking shoes and jacket are recommended.
