Frenchman Andre-Jacques made the first parachute jump in 1797. His parachute was 10 meters in diameter made from 30 sq. ft. of fabric with 36 suspension lines. It must have run in the family. His enthusiastic niece made 40 jumps between 1815 and 1836.

The Marina Municipal Airport skydiving flights take to the skies seven days a week. Skydivers of every proficiency will find something to suit them, and the views of the bay are spectacular. Experts at Skydive Monterey Bay are ready to give you the skills needed to experience the thrill of a lifetime. Reservations are recommended, but not required.
At Marina State Beach, hang glider enthusiasts take flight from a concrete launch pad. Marina Dunes Open Space Preserve is another hang gliding site. Observe the rules and stay on paths in this protected area.
